There
is a lot of confusion on what modular
homes are in the market place.
A
Modular Home is a house that is built in a controlled environment (factory). It
is transported on a flat bed and then erected on a permanent foundation,
basement, or crawl space.
These
homes can be ranches, 2 stories, cape cods, or a custom design floor plan. It is
important to note that they are built to the same building codes as their
counterparts, (homes that are built entirely on the site). Building codes vary
from state to state. The current building code for the state of Michigan is
Universal Code, which is very close to the previous Boca Code.
The
advantages of a Modular Home (sometimes called a System Built Home) are many.
Since they are built in a enclosed controlled environment, they are built to
exact standards and are not subjected to weather, which means the materials are
not subjected to black mold or warping. Modular Homes allow the foundation to be
put in the ground at the same time the home is being built at the factory, this
means the building process is much faster. Cutting down on the time it takes to
build your home means the cost of construction draw loans are much less
expensive then traditional built homes. You get a better built home for less
money, built faster to exact standards. What could be better??
